Watch the recording of the launch of the video 'Community-centred learning experiences: Who benefits?' introduced by Vice President Societal Impact, Equity & Engagement (SIEE) Professor Verity Firth and followed by a discussion panel with ¹úÃñ²ÊƱ staff and students.

¹úÃñ²ÊƱ Sydney has a long history of providing immersive education experiences for students, including through community-centred learning programs in disciplines such as the built environment and engineering. The University’s commitment to such initiatives is reflected in the new Societal Impact Framework.

SIEE and the Yuwaya Ngarra-li Partnership have involved in community-centred learning initiatives on what it takes to ensure such initiatives are genuinely collaborative and impactful.The video features:

• Professor Greg Leslie (Director of the Global Water Institute, Faculty of Engineering), Eva Lloyd (Senior Lecturer in the School of Built Environment, Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture) and Samantha Rich (Housing Project Manager, Yuwaya Ngarra-li Partnership—and ¹úÃñ²ÊƱ MArch Graduate, where she completed a community-centred WIL project)
• Community members and students involved in programs in Walgett, Bourke, and the Chen Dan Daek neighbourhood in Phnom Penh, Cambodia). 

To celebrate the launch of the video, the screening was followed by a panel discussing the key themes of the video, community-university partnerships and ¹úÃñ²ÊƱ’s Societal Impact Framework. The panel included:

• Pro-Vice Chancellor Societal Impact & Inclusion Professor Bruce Watson 
• Yuwaya Ngarra-li Senior Research Fellow Peta MacGillivray 
• Graduates who have completed a community-centred learning experience at ¹úÃñ²ÊƱ, Dehan Silva and Rory Lewis.
