Dr Catherine Chan

Catherine received her PhD in Photovoltaic Engineering in 2014 at ��Ʊ in the area of novel laser processes for silicon solar cells. While completing her PhD, Dr. Chan worked as part of the ��Ʊ Technology Transfer Team, commercialising ��Ʊ��s laser doped selective emitter (LDSE) and advanced hydrogenation technologies.

She is now a postdoctoral research fellow at ��Ʊ working on crystalline silicon solar cell research and development. Her research interests include advanced hydrogen passivation of defects in silicon, and understanding light-induced degradation in both mono and multi-crystalline solar cells. Her work has led to the development of industrial tools to mitigate light-induced degradation (LID) in commercial silicon solar cells, with several of these tools now available on the market and being used in production to fabricate LID-free cells. Catherine is an inventor on >10 patents and has published >70 research papers.
