James is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Law & Justice. His primary research interest is in the area of civil litigation and civil procedure, in particular class action law and procedure. He also has a research interest in alternative dispute resolution, especially in the area of online dispute resolution and the use of blockchain technology in the resolution of disputes.

Prior to commencing postgraduate study, James was a practicing litigator in New York and is admitted to the New York State Bar, the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the District Court for the Southern District of New York and the District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
