Who we are

Cold Storage Services (CSS) plays an essential role in the support of world-class research facilities at ¹úÃñ²ÊƱ and reliable cold storage infrastructure is vital for maintaining the integrity of samples, reagents and experiments. Cold Storage Services has expertise, systems and contacts who can provide advice and guidance from the start of the procurement stage through to an equipment monitoring system once the infrastructure is installed.

We use Vapour Phase Liquid Nitrogen tank (-135°C to -196°C) or Ultra-low temperature (ULT) (-80°C to -95°C) storage of samples in secure, temperature-controlled environments with 24/7 monitoring.

CSS provides access and training for , ¹úÃñ²ÊƱ’s enterprise inventory management system.

Services

​​​​​​​The system provides a single, secure, cloud-based solution to catalogue all research samples at ¹úÃñ²ÊƱ. It allows each researcher to set up a unique collection protocol to organise samples, manage freezers/fridges, and attend onboarding and training sessions.

Wireless monitoring hardware
We provide wireless monitoring of freezers, incubators, temperature and humidity, and cryo tanks. This a third-party wireless web-based portal that allows live monitoring, historical data logs, and can be set up to trigger alarms when a sensor records readings outside of its specified limits.

ULT backup freezers
We provide access to backup freezers for emergency use to safeguard critical samples in the event of equipment failure. These freezers are maintained to ensure optimal storage conditions and are widely available across the ¹úÃñ²ÊƱ campus. Each freezer is equipped with wireless monitoring.

Cryo tanks
We provide long-term and archival storage solutions to ensure the secure and reliable preservation of important specimens. Record-keeping is managed through mySample, allowing for accurate tracking and easy access. By utilising our storage services, laboratories can maximize their available space while ensuring the integrity and longevity of their samples.
